This is not exactly a home rememdy, but in our household its a life saver-- especially during the spring allergy season.

Guiafenesin is made from a tropical tree bark, and is a renewable resource.  It is the main expectorant in many cough syrups, such as Robitussin , and the "new" wonder med: Mucinex.  I have bought the store brand or generic for years and it is about $3.00 for a big bottle, compared to $20 for Mucinex brand.  I have high blood pressure and the plain syrup does not affect it.  I think it is ok for diabetics as well.

In my case it saves me from many cases of bronchitis-- if i take any sort of allergy meds my bronchial tubes fill up with dried mucus plugs and i get sick soon after.  If i take the guiafenesin that does not happen.

Some docs also prescribe this stuff in fairly hefty doses for fibromyalgia-- it is not an approved treatment and though I have fibro i have not tried big doses myself.

I have tried it. There is a brand out there that tastes so terrible, but works pretty well. Buckley's Mixture it is called.

Poll

Are We Recovering Economically?

No, this is the last hurrah.

Not yet, but we will soon.

Maybe, it's too early to tell.

Yes, the recovery has begun and it's safe to invest again.

NO WAY, if you think Gold is "High" now, wait a few months.

Heh... do you have a bunker handy?
